ChallengeHow can COFCO build on its strong reporting to better tell its sustainability story?

COFCO International is the overseas agriculture business platform for COFCO Corporation, China's largest food and agriculture company. In 2017 alone, it handled over 100 million tonnes of related commodities. 

While COFCO is on a mission to build a world-class global agri-business, it is also committed to doing this in a responsible way. Its annual sustainability report is one of its key platforms to tell this story.

Solution: A complex story told with simplicity

We worked closely with COFCO International’s Sustainability and Communications teams in Switzerland to help develop a clear strategy for content — ensuring that the story we told was concise and clear. Given the complexity and reach of their business, it was important that sustainability achievements and dedication as a responsible business were easy to understand and engage with. By keeping the colour palette narrow but bold, and by simplifying tables, charts and diagrams we were able to ensure that the content remained easy to engage with across the multi-layered messaging. This fresh approach reflects the bold focus of COFCO’s sustainability strategy.


The report has been incredibly well received by COFCO International’s senior stakeholders and has recently been distributed across global operations in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia — bringing to life their sustainability achievements for as many people as possible.
