Helping social entrepreneurs make an even bigger impact

Our annual Innovation Day gives creative services to social entrepreneurs in order to help them increase their impact. We give them a multidisciplinary team of experts for a day to tackle their brand, marketing and communication requirements.

The story so far

In 2018, we celebrated our seventh Innovation Day, our fourth as part of the Publicis Groupe and our third in our Baker Street location. Being a part of a multi-agency hub gives us access to hundreds of colleagues within the Groupe’s network. Year-on-year our goal is to scale up the event and increase the impact of the day by supporting more social entrepreneurs. Across seven Innovation days we have helped over 40 social enterprises.

Our partner UnLtd

UnLtd, our partner since the very first Innovation Day, offer the largest network of social entrepreneurs in the world and support hundreds of individuals each year through its programmes. They help us to identify the businesses well placed for our support. Through their international network, they have also helped us take the event to the US and for the first time in 2018, Amsterdam.

Increasing impact

Whilst Salterbaxter remains the only agency to close down for client work for the day, for the past two years we have had 30+ volunteers from MSL London and other agencies including Vivid, Poke, Arc, August, JKL, Publicis, Sapient Razorfish, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis Health and CNC have also participated. We have now established the event on the ground in New York and MSL Amsterdam ran their first Innovation Day in 2018.

Creating a dynamic experience

We now have many experienced hands at planning Innovation Day and all hands are required to lead the blended multi-agency teams, create a relationship with the social entrepreneurs, and develop a brief and workshop plan that maximises the quality and usefulness of outputs from the day.

On the day

The inspired and dynamic atmosphere on the day is exhilarating. In 2018, the event was 200+ people strong, going live in London, Amsterdam and New York on the same day. After a full day of workshops everyone comes together to share what they’ve achieved. The teams present back against the clock – five slides in 2 minutes keeps it pacy.

Following the day

Three to six months after the day we check back in with the entrepreneurs to see what materials have been used and with what impact. Here’s what some of our 2017 enterprises have said:
